Dr. Madhukar G Angur

After working in the USA for over 27 years as a professor and scholar at many leading universities worldwide, Madhukar Angurdecided to return to India to change the course of education for the better. Dr. Madhukar G Angur is the Founder Chancellor of one of the leading universities in South India, Alliance University. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas, USA; a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from IIM, India and a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India. He hasn’t stopped his desire to bring about a growth in the education space with just Alliance university but servers as a mentor and investor for many edu-tech startups. His expertise in this field has lead founders to carve a clear path for their startups.

Dr. Madhukar Angur has authored over 75 research papers in national and international journals and has presented over 100 papers at several conferences worldwide. He is on the Editorial Review Board/Reviewer for many renowned professional journals including the Industrial Marketing Management, Psychology, and Marketing, OMEGA—International Journal of Management. He has also reviewed manuscripts for several conferences and has served as Chair/Co-Chair at many national and international conferences. Dr. Angur has supervised over 150 independent study and doctoral students in the areas of international marketing, services marketing, industrial marketing, brand management, business analytics, advertising management, and marketing and business strategy.

Through his achievements, he has established himself not only the field of academics but also as an industry professional worldwide, an academic, a teacher-scholar, an entrepreneur and a Founder and Chancellor. Numerous awards and recognitions have also credited his name. Dr. Angur was nominated twice for the Carnegie Foundation Professor of the Year Award. In 1997, he was recognized by the Michigan Association of University Governing Boards as a Distinguished Michigan Professor. He was awarded the ‘Sevachakra Puraskar’ in 2013 by the All India Economy Survey Award Council (AIESAC), New Delhi and the 39th Aryabhata International Award, by The Aryabhata Cultural Organization, Bangalore, India, in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of education. In 2015, Dr. Angur received the Asia’s most Eminent Chancellor Award by the International Human Rights Commission in New Delhi.

Throughout the years recognizing Madhukar Angur's work in the field of education he has been listed in Who’s Who among America’s Teachers and Scholars and was nominated twice for the Carnegie Foundation Professor of the Year Award. He is the recipient of the David M. French Distinguished Professor Award (the highest honor bestowed on faculty) at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan, USA. He was honored with the ‘Education Entrepreneur of the Year 2015’ award by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in the 8th National Education Excellence Awards 2015, New Delhi, India.

His passion for social causes led him to serve as the Principal Investigator of the Childhood Asthma Task Force in Mid-West America, a seminal healthcare initiative of USA President Bill Clinton. He was also actively involved in the Infant Mortality Research Project in Michigan. Also keenly interested in the research fields of business analytics, business strategy, industrial marketing, healthcare, and services management Dr. Madhukar G Angur serves on the Board of companies in the manufacturing and service sectors. He has been a consultant for many leading organizations such as General Motors, Ford, McKinsey, Delphi, A.C. Nielsen, Bell Laboratories and is a sought-after speaker at several companies and associations.

Recently, the Public Relations Council of India selected Chancellor Dr. Madhukar Angur for the prestigious Chanakya Award for National Achievers for the year 2017 under the category Chanakya Juries Special Award—Business Communication. He wishes to continue working towards bringing about a positive change in the society by inspiring and mentoring young minds venturing in the field of education and disrupting it with technology. Recognizing the importance of having the future generations ready for advanced jobs, his universities aim at training and development of working executives, executive education, career development, and training in specialized management areas such as Business Analytics, HR Analytics, Fuzzy Logic and Engineering Management.
